Responsible for direction and project
management in the development and implementation of Kuali Student, an SOA/Web
Services-based community source student services system of which the University
of Maryland is co-founder. Assisted in producing and presenting Kuali Student as a cost-effective
replacement for the current student system. Built UM’s development team of six dedicated
staff to the Kuali Student project and manage the functional and technical
aspects at both the program level and at the local implementation level. Serves on the Kuali Student Technical
Steering Committee; is responsible for reporting UM’s financial program-level
contributions to the Kuali Student finance manager; serves as: Communication
Coordinator (program-to-local liaison), functional team manager, technical
director, and other roles as needed as the project progresses. Serves on the University of
Maryland CIO’s senior staff, the duties of which include reporting project
status; inclusion of the varying IT stem directors in projects as needed; promotion
and communication of projects to campus; and providing advice and opinions to
senior staff and the CIO as requested.

Key experience with UMCP is in research,
implementation, and management of multiple IT projects for administrative
student systems.
Leads in the definition of policies, procedures, documentation. and communication practices for all of OIT.
Leads the functional and technical effort to provide UMCP with a new Web-based Student Information System. Responsibilities include spearheading strategy, project management, change management, and full development lifecycle. Affected systems include Admissions, Accounts Receivable, Financial Aid, Records, Registration, and the many satellite systems such as Orientation, Parking, Housing, and Dining. This project has a 5 year product development cycle.
Chair RFP committee in selection of UMCP enterprise portal; chairs Portal Functional Executive and Advisory committees to determine content and applications implemented in each phase. Expected full campus-wide portal implementation in 3 years.
Researched, drove the RFP process, purchased, and managed the implementation of the Admissions recruitment portal and back-office systems.
Vice
President for Engineering and Director of Financial Services for Engineering
Responsible for the engineering department (72 engineers - development
managers, tech leads, developers, system administrators, database developers,
quality assurance teams and business analysts) and the direction of the
engineering department in the New York office.
Responsibilities included resource allocation/utilization/billability, budget, business development, forecasting, and best practices.
As Director of Financial Services for Engineering, took on responsibility for all Financial Services projects. Primary responsibilities included business development, project delivery, high-level project oversight, high-level project scheduling, risk identification and management.
Prior to VP and Director role, was a Development Manager. Primary responsibilities included technical GE account manager ($10 million/year revenue) and Tech Lead for GE Small Business, business development and technical program manger for Lloyds TSB.
One of the first responsibilities in iXL was as Director of Quality Assurance: Built the QA department from the ground up and performed hands-on QC duties where necessary as the department matured.
